With Frigid Arms

The day spread out with frigid arms 
To welcome us with bite and wind: 
Inducted into hard and gray, 
The houses of the long chagrined 
Spread out before us, like a play 
With stilted, cold recited lines -- 
The day spread out with frigid arms, 
Collecting all our dues 

And fines
