A Flower

A Flower

She placed a flower in her hair,
And did it with some reason:
She liked the way it looked, and knew
It wasn’t long in season

For flowers, as the poets say,
Are here and gone tomorrow:
So better one bright day of joy
Than a whole life
Of sorrow
