Through Windows – 10

Music gives
In a fickle way:
Ravishing us when
We are too young to quite grasp
How fleeting our senses are,
And how our feelings --
Once so keen and sharp --
Betray us.

Yet we strive
In vain to recall
Through alcohol or
By any other means to
Bring back sensations that we
Once took easily,
Without much thought.
We do try.

But silence
And clamor, both drown
It all out
