THERE was a time, and she recalls
a younger her, and overpowered
by things just so new to her
with each experience devoured --
devoured, and devouring.
but gradually escaping from
what was a dominating pulse
she came to see what she'd become
was not her final destiny.
she blames herself, but that is gone:
and so the shadows hold her truth
so she in learning can move on.
