Years ago, I got married.
The marriage didn’t last.

At the wedding, my father and I
Played a prelude:
The song, “En Priere” (“A Prayer”)
By Gabriel Faure, we arranged from its original for
Human voice and piano.

My father died more than a decade ago,
And the marriage, a decade before that:
But beautiful music, like a beautiful memory
