“… beauty in any artifice …”

We arrange exterior things, hoping to move that tidiness to our insides; this is a worthy thing, a human thing, and not to be despised. The apparent order of external things can be deceptive, but there is a truth in any order we ourselves create, and a beauty in any artifice born of the desire to bring some harmless order to the chaos we find everywhere.
