The Carnival of The Elite

Her gown costs more than the waiter’s rent for a year
The car he drove here, more than the bartender’s college
The carnival of the elite is gathered here
There is no show more freakish, to my knowledge

The fat lady is thin – her wallets fat –
The bearded lady’s husband is a fake –
The strong man got that way by lifting graft –
The tamer cannot tame his wild snake

But yet they will look down upon the staff
As lesser beings much to be despised;
And yet this staff looks back, and has a laugh
Their scorn of these elite is ill-disguised
