Five Stories – 5 – The Water Falls

They came out here to try to reignite
The passion they had lost along the way.
But as before, small words became a fight
That left them glowering amid the day.

They hiked in silence up to Ozone Falls
A magic place that neither gave a glance;
As both were locked behind defensive walls;
A type of ritual, a rite, a dance.

But as they stood he saw the water fall
Unwanted from the corners of her eyes;
And he, regretting, spoke his only words
To say he’s sorry, and apologize

Their broken love seemed old and tottering
But sometimes all it needs
Is watering

Thanks to Dana Renee for this post. She has challenged me with the Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge: “Post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or a short paragraph and each day nominate another blogger for the challenge”.

I would like to nominate Everyone In The Known Universe* to participate in this challenge.

Five Stories – 4 – Fashion’s Forgotten

So, we went out of fashion with pet rocks.
But here are, both pesky and alive;
And though we could retire and retreat
We’re thinking let’s just buck the trend and thrive.

For many are the seasons we’ve seen go –
As day gives way to day, and year to year –
And yet, I love you more and more with each;
And am so very grateful that you’re here

So though fashion forgets us, we still live;
And all I have, for you
I still would give

Five Stories – 3 – The Song of Amy

Amy’s really happy now,
And so should you be, too;

She broke away from old mistakes;
Manipulation, too

She packed their stuff and took her kids
And traveled far away

She dresses like she wants to dress now
Every day’s their day

She really likes the town, the job
The people, and then some

But most of all, she likes – no, loves –
The person
She’s
Become

Five Stories – 2 – How He Would Love

He’d ask her for her secret dreams
Then work to make each one come true
He’d paint the grass green, the sky blue…
How he would love
To love her like that

She’d lean on him at end of day
Her frame just lightly touching his
After they had some mountain climbed…
How he would love
To be loved like that

The love he longed for? So did she.
They climbed that mountain, touched that sky
Up where the grass is green for real…
How he would love
To make this last
Forever

Five Stories – 1 – Summer Reindeer

The other toys think I’m insane
But I think I’m just bolder;
They want to stay home in their box
Until it gets much colder

But I take chances – here I am!
And no Bill of Attainder
Can keep me boxed up anymore
I am a summer reindeer

I stowed away in a beach bag
With flip-flops and some lotion;
I cannot say I care that much
For all this gull commotion

But I here I am beside the sea,
No Christmas toy has been here;
So score one for the little guy:
The fearless
Summer
Reindeer
