Single

The nerve of that woman
To go be happy —
Doesn’t she know
She’s single?

Living entirely her own life,
Making all her own choices
As to how to make this world
A better one,
And perfectly content —
That’s got to be an act, right?

Where I come from,
Everyone is miserable
Single, married or otherwise:
That’s how it’s supposed to be

But she’s sitting on a beach somewhere
Happily within her own thoughts
Living an independent existence
Where love is a matter of daily choice
Not ritual obligation

What’s wrong with her?

Or is there maybe

Something wrong with me?

Less Reported Sports

In less reported sports today:

Security knocked out Novelty,
Walls held back Human Interaction,
Routine thrashed Adventure,
And Creativity was shut out by Imitation.

The losing sides all blamed Others
For their various defeats.

Careful analysis of the contests, however,
Showed “Choices” to be the major contributing factor
To these unexpected losses.

“One days’ defeat, however,
Does not a season make,”
Said the coach of one of the losing sides.

“We can change everything starting
right
now”

Alone At A Party

Ancient Age Bourbon

Alone at a party
She decided she wanted to play a character

Someone to replace the drab her
She had been seeing at home in the mirror

So, armed with the magic elixir of Ancient Age,
She burned away her real personality

And while she made no wise choices that night,
She has no regrets, either

For freedom rings, passion blazes,
Youth must live, and mistakes

Have to be experienced
