When I my happiest can be
In shadows, and simplicity,
I walk along with many thoughts
Of love's downright audacity
In magnifying things quite small --
The narrow-strange, the barely-all --
Into these pillars ringed with fire,
These words I love, this musical.
For though with years I lose some zest,
Still I can love, and leave the rest
To go unspoken, thought, or said,
While I hold on to all
That's best
