Three

So here’s the world I see for you:
A different place – a different two –
And all the things you never had
In years that went from poor to bad

It’s not, of course, the only way,
But love is in your soul, I know —
Leave what has been in yesterday,
Pick up your heart,
And go

What’s gone is irreplaceable,
For you have known real love;
And many who would counsel you
Don’t know what you’re made of

But though you’ll not forsake your love,
The ocean sings it’s song,
And you’ll rejoin the table, ere
The meal goes on
Too long

You don’t need somebody to “complete you”:
No restraints, or ties, or safety belts —
There’s a life for you, that’s full and filling;
You’re just fine without
Somebody else
