Fall, please come and fall down, rain

The rain falls cold and hard today:
  the battered land
  stands dauntless, there to understand
  the wanting and
  the wantless

The sight today is curbed:
  the eyes would fill
  unbidden; though the seeker’s will
  would rather they
  be hidden

Fall, please come and fall down, rain:
I will not see this like again,
I will not see these roads, this place,
I will not ever see again that face

There is no balm in Gilead:
  the wounds are fresh
and tender; raked by wire and mesh
  with no means of
  surrender

These panaceas do not work:
  they leave me numb
of power, lost and very dump
  a statue in
  a shower

But fall, please come and fall down, rain:
I will not see this like again,
I will not see these roads, this place,
I will not ever see again that face

Again that face

Again

                    that face
