My friend, you should not seek control
Of anyone but you:
Believe me, in a lifetime, that
Will be enough to do
My friend, you shouldn’t want to tell
All others how to live;
Perhaps you ought to think a while
Of what is yours to give
You think you have solutions that
You lob like a grenade;
But tradeoffs, not solutions,
Are what always must be made
For there is no perfection in
The present human state:
My friend, we are just people and,
As such, participate
In all the many failings of
Our species. We are blind
To how it is that we add to
The problems of mankind.
My friend, you should not seek control
Of anyone but you:
Believe me,
In a lifetime,
That
Will be enough
To do
