There’s music heard across the plain…

There’s music heard across the plain
Upon an winter’s night;
And fires warm and lit with love
Away from winds that bite.

There’s comfort for the homesick soul,
And solace for the weary –
In music heard across the plain
That’s more than book or theory –

The song of our surrendering
To knowing that we’re human:
And laying down our heads where we
Can find a place
There’s room in

“Really Cool”

I love this image, which looked to me like a really cool cover to an old GameBoy game. Or maybe the bird outside is attracted to the fake bird on the Christmas tree – you decide.

four beliefs

i keep these in my secret heart,
the four beliefs of mine:

love keeps us tethered to the soul
with hopeful bits of twine

that truth is a ubiquity
that few have eyes to see

there unity in differences
within humanity

and finally that, though may we scheme
and try to live our plan
the best that we can ever do
is do the best
we can

A Heartache Song

Time was, I sang a heartache song
Of lonely nights and frozen days;
I sought the soul’s poor comfort long,
And waited for the new sun’s rays

Back then, I dreamed a dream of you,
Who’d love me as I truly am —
Time was, I sang a hopeful song:
Still thinking you might give
A damn

Love, and The Distant Winter

She’d always liked him, but he was
Her older brother’s friend;
She thought he’d never look at her
That way

For seasons pass, and days go by,
And dreams come to an end,
And expectation leaves. But then,
One day —

He saw her in the winter snow,
Just passing in the street;
And asked her out to dinner,
On the spot

And now, it’s been five years, and she
Cannot imagine how
They’ve come so far, or how it’s stayed
So hot –

But unimagined times can come.
She lives and knows that now —
The time goes sailing by,
It fairly hums –

She doesn’t take for granted
What she yearned for all those years —
Just lives and loves each day
The way it comes
