My heart belongs with the lonely,
It’s where I’m meant to be –
Not in the thoughtless crowd, or off
Among complacency
My heart belongs with the lonely,
And will to them be borne –
For while I still have eyes to see,
I’ll comfort those
Who mourn

So beautiful . . .
Thank you for sharing this with your readers. I feel so strongly about this piece that I’ve attached it to the front page of my blog, it is a lot of who I am.
It is magnificent and should be shared. Thank you for your words.
It’s as if you’ve been my best friends for years and described myself to me.
I’ve really come to appreciate the people I’ve had the good fortune to know who are like that. It’s a wonderful thing.
It’s like validation for yourself that someone cherishes you so much to know all about you.
A kindred spirit I find in you as I read this, most refreshing to find other souls that feel this way. 🙂
What a beautiful poem ❤️
This is a beautiful poem indeed… Good Job!
Odd but i must thank you for posting this in writing. Your voice came too close to me. I so often feel as you do.
It is beautiful to find so many souls out there and to touch them as you do, i for one will continue to take delight and solace in your writing,

Short yet lovely poem. It’s with the loners that us loners find solace. Some of us don’t like the big crowds and parties. A quieter evening with close friends is way more enticing. 🙂
There’s a cool poem called ‘She Dwelt among the Untrodden Ways’. It talks about this woman who used to be alone and was not known by many. Yet there was one special person, the poet, who admired her. I thought this had a great lesson in it: that of how there is always someone who thinks of you as special, even if you don’t see yourself the same way.
If that sounds interesting to you, I wrote an article describing the key values of the poem here: https://revitellect.wordpress.com/2017/03/28/youre-always-special-to-someone/
I know that poem well, it’s one of my favorites. I look forward to reading this.
Oh, that’s great to hear. Yes, it’s a beautiful yet short piece like this one 🙂 Thank you for reading! Hope you like it. 🙂
Very pretty.
Owen, i can still hear you reading this out loud and know what- i kind-of wish you would again. I think I’d be OK this time.

I adore this.. I really relate to it…only those who know lonelieness can fully bear it or understand it in others, in my view.
Beautiful
Thanks.
This is so beautiful :O) x
A very beautiful poem! Even though I love getting to know people and being with them, I understand this poem.
