we were and are, but now we’re not.
dichotomies, lobotomies,
a life of empty calories,
a bit of land, but still not quite a plot —
we were and are, and yet we cease to be:
i once was tough, but now i’m just a jerk —
they say we work to live, not live to work,
but through this mist, it’s kind of hard to see
