The River Speaks

The river speaks of hidden ways;
Of worlds beneath the water —
She hears it calling, for she is
The river’s only daughter

Within a kingdom full of lights
She bears the royal missive;
Past all within our reckoning
And thoughts and words derisive

To judge by looks our common flaw,
But one that she’s not sharing —
The river cries in ancient tongues,
But there’s yet one
Who’s caring
