You Topia

Why is it we think that we
Can cure all of society?
We can by no means see all ends;
And scarcely can keep love or friends.

And yet the myth remains intact,
Our visions never become fact,
For once in power: deja vu —
We still will do what humans do

5 Thoughts to “You Topia

  1. You have a lot of treasure in your chest…
For all practical purposes you ARE participating in NaPoWriMo.

Do you always post this often? Or does it wax and wane…

    1. Thank you. I really just started writing poetry instead of prose back in December, and the more I write, the more I seem to want to write. I don’t think I’ll be able to keep this pace up, I’ve been at a three-a-day pace for a few weeks now.

      1. Who are some of your favorite poets, or eras of poetry?

I love English poetry from the 16 & 1700’s. Especially Dryden, Samuel Butler and Alexander Pope (along with many others).

I also like American poetry from the 1800’s.

      2. I love a lot of the more “straightforward” poets: Housman, Frost, even Thomas Hardy. Recently been reading a lot of Coleridge and Wordsworth, and I have a strange fascination with William Blake.

I read some Pope and Butler but I don’t know what I’ve read of Dryden. I’ll have to look some up.

      3. I love Coleridge and Houseman – but more like their “Greatest Hits” (Kublai Khan, A Shropshire Lad) since I am not really familiar with a range of their works.

        I also love Byron !

I need time alone on a deserted island to really get into the work of these great poets…hard to do with kids around.
