I called you from a phone booth,
On a party line,
To ask what we should do
With the encyclopedias,
The atlas,
And the thesaurus,
And you said,

Put them with
The maps,
The photo albums,
And the pager.

So, out past where we keep
The other bits of uselessness,
I discarded them, along with
The cassette player,
The rotary phones,
And how we planned
To raise our children.
