Lover’s Complaint

Oh yes, it’s very pleasant here,
But I think more’s required:
I’d rather not be loved right now
I’d rather be desired

To know that I am pleasing you
So much that you want more:
That’s really more the kind of thing
That I was looking for

You see, there comes a time when love
Is used as an excuse:
For old worn-out relationships
Decaying from disuse

So love to me is not just words
It’s made of what you do:
I want you to desire me
The way that I do
