A Noise Cancelling Sonnet

When no one’s there, we sometimes find ourselves:
An understanding noise can cancel out.
It’s seen in waves, and heard in bits of shells,
And felt the deepest while in deepest doubt.

The world is bigger than our biggest than:
It grows until it soars, as does the soul
That sees, when high enough, the greater plan,
And knows: to love, we must give up control.

If we would have the sea, we get the storm.
There are no blessings in this life unmixed,
And troubles aren’t exceptions, they’re the norm,
And many ever of them can’t be fixed.

The sea its secrets access has allowed us:
That it’s around us, but it’s not about us.
