when autumn comes

when autumn comes,
she wraps herself
in colors of
the season,

and daily she
reminds me of
the wonders
beyond reason

that live in ev’ry
crack and crag,
that shine through
all our sorrows

the kind ways humans
sometimes show
that promise new
tomorrows
