A New Name

A day, a week, a month;
It’s like you’ve had no past —
A touch, a glance, a lie:
They’re all the same

The fountains that you drank from
Weren’t made to last —
And now, again, you’re known
By a new name

A word, a cut, a wound;
A life that falls apart —
A nod, a pat, a hug,
And time to stew

You’d always known the truth,
That’s not unusual —
What ‘bliterates
Is when the truth
Knows you
