So Wrong

Tangled Up

I asked you not to bother me
And then, yet, you persisted –
Avoided you consistently
And faithfully resisted

The urge inside to do wrong things
That you had placed inside me
With all the trouble that drive brings –
I kept a light to guide me –

Until, one night, that light went dark.
And there I was, unguarded;
And circling there, you, like a shark
And that’s when something started

My light, why did you leave me?
Why was I left unprotected?
The danger was well known to me
And totally expected

And now, I’m lost. In agony
It seems nothing can sate us
And I’m so tangled up in you
I cannot separate us
