Daily Prompt – “Inside the Bubble” – A contagious disease requires you to be put into quarantine for a whole month (don’t worry, you get well by the time you’re free to go!). How would you spend your time in isolation?

And so, this prompt reminded me:
I’ve actually been in quarantine.
By then, I’d lost about 40 pounds;
Covered in bruises, unkempt, unclean
I thought I merely had the flu,
I couldn’t eat, and I looked bad;
I threw up much of what I drank
And slept, and finally, called my dad
When we got to Emergency,
They took one look, said “go right in”.
The bruises were the sign, I guess
I truly hadn’t noticed them
I was so sick. But before long
They placed me into quarantine;
What did I do with all that time?
I slept. I wasn’t feeling keen.
They moved me when my tests came in.
I was real sick, but you can guess,
That while my life was hanging, I
At least, was not contagious.
I saw my mom and dad outside
The window on the door, look in:
Some other folks in hazards suits,
Who checked a time or two, but then
I was so out of it, I had
No chance to use these special days
To catch up on my reading, or
Do anything inside my haze
But that was me. I truly know
We’re different all. That’s what I’ve seen.
