You Never Know Who’s At The Door

You never know who's at the door,
Though people don't come round no more;
It's mostly just giraffes, and such,
Since folks down here don't get out, much.

We get a possum, now and then,
A duck or two, a deer or ten:
We often, then, must mop the floor --
You never know who's at the door.

we live, we love, we laugh, we learn

we live, we love, we laugh, we learn
we test, we take, we toss, we turn
we bake and boil, borrow, buy —
we cram, and crab; we cringe or cry

we walk on wires in the night
our cats in tow, our minds a-flight
we touch the moon until we burn
we live, we love,
we laugh,
we learn

signage

most days,
we don’t get paid
by word
or linage

so leave
bits of your heart
and soul
on signage

somewhere
out of the blue
yourself
revealing

to spread
some little shred
of what
you’re feeling
