WE gravitate towards things like fate,
and chance, and destiny
to reframe who-we-are in terms
of who-we're-meant-to-be
AS THOUGH our own decisions were
made best by someone else;
we trade in private heavens for
these wholesale public hells,
KNOW: when we humans make a thing,
it's malleable, and protean,
and nothing vanishes as fast
as what we call
utopian
