Age Nineteen

So tell me, why do you believe?
You know you do, and so do I.

I couldn’t look her in the eye;
I couldn’t find the words to grieve

That loss. A world has come and gone,
And I am now a halfway man;

But she — she sees some bigger plan,
A window to some other dawn —

You know you do, and so do I.
I guess it’s true: I do, I did;

For somehow, I am still the kid
Who sees a hut, and thinks that it can fly
