Those Who Know

There’s mystery across the sky,
And secrets ‘long the way:
But those who say don’t know,
And those who know don’t say.

The paradox is everywhere,
The riddle’s in our blood:
That those upon the lowest ground
Are safest from the flood.

You’re searching for a someday kiss,
Your soul can hear a song,
But company accompanies
The hearts that don’t belong.

You married your ingratitude
Then traded it for whimsy,
The solidest of all your hopes?
The one most flimsy.

But strawberries and opal sand
Don’t cost much, anyway —
They’re somewhere, now, just waiting:
But those who know

Won’t say

  1. Such a mystery to me- hopefully one day it will be less so. But I wonder if those who think they know have been either lucky, or have not questioned their decision. Maybe we’ll never know the answer to that!
