The fruit is in the bowl, right where you put it,
The toaster’s at an angle, as you like;
The jars are on the shelves for decoration,
The morning sunshine finds your favorite plant
I know your hands, your heart, I’ve known some secrets;
To bring some order, where and how you can;
To push away the madness – nay – the darkness —
That would consume all that you’ve built and planned
I hear you in the other room draw nearer,
I know the blankness waits, behind your eyes;
The fruit is in the bowl, right where you put it,
As you hold on, the only way
You know
