With Innocence

Some situations require avoiding —

With Innocence

I seek the way beyond the fence,
But more and more, I doubt it —
The world grows new with innocence
And I grow old without it

My friend, you’re very young and fair;
With life and youth you’re blooming —
And you would also see me there,
Not knowing what is looming –

You should be in the joyful skies,
With revelers and dancers —
I do not mean to patronize;
I have no lasting answers —

But know what cannot ever wake;
Let us not tease, or flout it —
The world grows new with innocence,
And I grow old
Without it
