Abandoned Amusement Park

Carnival music playing, barely heard
Above the heartbroken cry of the wind

Eyes closed, the crowds appear again:
Jostling and laughing
Lovers walking with hands interlocked

Eyes open, the park sits empty:
And the wind cries mournfully
As the distant sound of a merry-go-round
Provides a musical escort
Into madness
