If I Could Tell

If I could tell you all my truth,
You’d see the me that no one knows;
An aging shell, a desperate youth
Who alters, shivers as each new wind blows

If I could set the stars alight,
I’d place each one up in the sky,
And sing your songs into the night;
I’d love you, love you fiercely, ’til we die

But autumn ending, silent flees;
For granted taken, hide my eyes —
If I could tell you all my truth,
This life would just transmute it
Back to lies
