Their Marriage Would Be Different…

He’s really sweet – she always said –
And *she’d* never let herself go —
She judged all her friends’ marriages,
And said with her, it never would be so

They always would communicate;
She knew just how to keep a man —
Their marriage would be different
From others, who she didn’t understand

But on their trip to paradise
He fell into another bed;
And she was slow to realize
The gap in what he did and what he said

He’d lie to her, repeatedly,
Then hit up anything that moved;
She held out hope until the last
But things had started bad and not improved

It only is in retrospect,
She sees the folly of her pride:
One person can’t a marriage make,
And grooms aren’t manufactured
By the bride
