He Thoughtless Walks

So let’s not say
He thoughtless walks
Across the garden now –

For thoughts there are
Of missing her
That he would disavow

But there they are,
The zero sum
Of all he can recall:

Effect from cause
He does not see,
So feels no shame
At all
