There any number of things
We believe
Because we’ve read statistics
.
Even though many of us admit
We don’t understand statistics
Have little idea how they’re computed
And even less where the data came from
Or how reliable it is
.
So we don’t know what we believe
Only who we choose to believe
.
So it might behoove us
On occasion
To be slightly more skeptical
.
We may find, upon reflection,
That many people we have known personally
And put our faith in
Turned out not to merit that trust
.
So why do we implicitly trust
People we don’t know at all?
I’m not sure we “trust” them; rather, i think we put up with them because we have to.
