the tree does not drown,
it drinks it new songs of how
the ocean bears its own

To me, a cube’s an elephant.
To you, a sphere’s an otter,
And we would think each other weird
If you were not
My daughter
Within a month of Saturdays
Along the walks of glee,
She set her pastel colors off
To find inerrancy.
She chalked one up for whimsy,
And another one for blues,
In gardens she drew on the ground
And on the avenues.
The birds and clouds all envied her
I know, I saw her there —
A month of Saturdays in one
With angels in
Her hair
the last lone bird at sunset come
to pick whatever’s left or right
upon the winter docking bay,
the guiding edge of light and night —
this age is likely better now:
we thrive on leveraged mockery
and straggle on to pick our line
toward prison or
the lottery
the world exploding with balloons
in psychedelic disarray
with golden skies and shelter tunes
from some forgotten dossier
the fragmentary bits of sense
that some would call hallucinant
but that for me are just my life
a neurophasic
accident
for something like a purpose
she set out, wondering —
a doe among
the buzzards and the wolves
i met her on the corner of
eleventh and erasure —
the one who gives
can still be one who culls
for she’d learned from the undergrowth,
a rustle in the Vedas,
the cold of iron
too tight to her skin
and i had learned from atrophy,
and some from Paul McCartney,
but not enough for her
to let me
in
a dragon twists on wings of fire, flowers in the opal clouds, spiraling, then swooping higher, distant until night haze shrouds love my only friend is waiting, tiring at the close of day, like a dragon fire abating as it makes its distant weary way
to stand out from the rest is who you are. you do not wear this like a crown; it is more of a testament to what you've seen than how you let it color your intent. for much is ugly in this life, this way; for we must live within our egosphere and bloom where we are left to grow, or wilt, as suits are disposition and our strength. to stand out from the rest: your destiny. for it is meaning that you freely give -- and knowing you has opened up my eyes to just where joy can be, and in what form.
dreary not and solemn never, celebrating what she can; half the distance to forever, measured in a second's span followed on, and leaving after, adoration's full repute; living love and loving laughter, choices just herself to suit special need and general freedom, spanning many kind regards; knowing much, and helping many, fortune's favor in the cards
