modest’

shared narrative
provides the only unity
that really lasts

sometimes the day
is large enough,
as is our
habitat

sometimes the heart
is sylvan through,
and i thank God

for that

paradoxical terrain

the mind expanding ocean

terror and sublimity

both legacy and legatee of human interaction

but still trying

thankfully

an empty sky
an almost barren sea
filling the ultimate
barrenness

a vacated heart
near where

decisions
meet
consequences
and

time
reclaims
