Heliotrope

My love, she turns towards the sun
When I see darkness coming on
She’ll take whatever light there is
Until the last small ray is gone

And doubled there amidst the dark
As I brood on the light that’s been
She waits to open up in praise
For when the sun returns
Again

Happen/Stance

No one knows the future,
No one really knows tomorrow:
Although, both late and soon, we all
Will face both joy and sorrow

Now, happenstance can be the key
If only we embrace it:
It’s not in what might happen
But our stance, in how we face it

If We Could…

Envy

If we could

Appreciate people

For what is good about them

Form no judgments

About things that don’t matter

And only take issue

With their faults

It would be an improvement

Since our current approach

Is to hate or envy people

For what’s good about them

Take issue

With things that don’t matter

And form no judgments

About their faults
