Desperate Rationalizing

She said:

You know that John is good to me
And I think a good father he will be
Our worst days are behind us now, I think
And he’s been working hard on the nursery

He feels the baby kicking, and he’ll say
– She’s going to be an athlete, that’s for sure –
And I am just in awe, in total wonder
Although a little frightened for the birth

Did you think I’ve gotten fat?
Because I sometimes think that he
Is looking around more than he used to do

I might be imagining things
The whole thing might be made up in my head
Because John is always good to me
And he’ll be good to our child

Right?
