Old Poem, Written Age 36

Things sure have changed.

This dating thing is very strange
It’s changed from what it was:
I seem to be more popular.
Perhaps that is because

I have a job now, and a child.
It’s nothing that I’ve said:
I don’t think I’m more interesting
But they’re more

Old Poem, Written Age 23

Massages, marriage and beer.

Massages are better than sex
I can pay for a massage without
Ending up in prison
Or married
Or both

But I can’t afford a massage
What I can afford
Is a beer
Six, to be exact
So, they are accompanying me home

Where they will do their best
To massage my conscience
