interconnected (x)

across the way and down a stretch, 
he sits with laptop, staring: 
the words, the writing will not come, 
and he is far past caring, 

but he needs money, for the herbs, 
and to attract the ladies,  
for when he's poor, the ones he likes 
all act like he's got rabies -- 

you have to have to get, it seems; 
you must be rich to borrow -- 
and lives of words are hard, because 
they're here and gone
