VISITORS are welcomed to the beach
by a festive array of flip-flops
sent as an honor guard to welcome those
visiting our tiny island.
MANY take the white sand back with them
not as souvenirs, but in their clothes,
hair, and even nostrils.
I myself have a sand collection in my dryer.
THE PEAK SEASON for tourists is the summer,
when it rains every afternoon.
The jokesters at the Chamber of Commerce
Call this the “Sunshine State”.
But remember folks,
Irony is never dishonesty.
