Years before the Walking Dead
I was often walking dead here, myself
Drunk during a three-day New Year’s party
I’ve known this town for decades, long
Before I moved to Georgia; known its
Handful of wonderful restaurants and stores
Thirty-five miles from Atlanta,
The deep South meets Hollywood
In a town of three thousand people
But when I was first staggering these streets
At age twenty-something
It felt to me like I had landed
In the 1930’s
You should come visit again.
I really should. Say hi to John and everybody.
