I put together this “Where I’m From” poem, based on a poem of the same name by George Ella Lyon, and a template from Rarasaur.com.

I am from a freeborn horse,
(Who finds his strength in freely
overcoming obstacles. His uses have
dwindled, but his honor
I am from an itinerant family,
from meat loaf and Zero bars.
I am from waking up in an ambulance.
I’m from wasted potential,
and wasn’t he supposed to be somebody?
I am from the trip to nowhere, still worth taking,
A horse running against the current,
Because there’s more to life than just what I can see
