They wonder why he writes so much,
That there’s so few will ever read;
And what this strange compulsion is,
This all-embracing need —
But long he travelled through the shadows
Of the vale of night:
He first wrote just to breathe,
But now he breathes
So he can write
(“The Poet’s Fate” – 11/6/2014)
This poem is so beautiful . . . Truly sums up the writer’s quest.
Thank you!
You’re welcome.
Perfect explanation! Happy New Year!
You, too. I hope 2016 brings much happiness.
How very true. Brilliant!
This is beautiful.
I really love this poem and can completely relate to it. I lost my Father just over a year ago and starting writing poetry on a daily basis from that point onwards. I need to write poems and it is a kind of therapy for me. Thanks so much for sharing. I will follow your blog. I have also just started a poetry blog on WordPress in case you have time to read? Have a good day, Sam 🙂
Describes writers so well~
Such a beautiful poem!! A writer’s poem!!
This is so true. When I feel so so dark and breathless poetry always helps me too.
