He loved as few men ever love
But she did not love him;
She entertained him for awhile
Upon some sort of whim
Then broke his heart one winter day
With casual disdain;
And left him crushed into the ground
His soul, a dark moraine
But there, in heartbreak’s fertile soil
Appeared a winter rose;
Amidst the lonely wintertide
Within the gathered snows
His reborn life, so happy now
So warmly topsy-turvy;
His love not wasted anymore
On somebody
Unworthy

beautiful picture!
I really loved this photo as well. It is from Dreamstime.
This photo gives me mixed emotions… I love roses but since they can’t grow and stay alive in the snow that means this one will soon be gone….
Maybe not, if somebody brings it inside and gives it fresh soil, water and sunlight..
I like the way you think 🙂
And it’s a true story.
Amen!
Wow! This is so lovely.
After a heartbreak, moving on seems so difficult, and yet we usually do find a winter rose. 🙂
Thank you.
I’m sorry for your heartbreak 🙁
Thanks, Evelyn. It got better…
I’m glad 😊
It’s beautiful
I have had a recent break up and finding hard to cope with it
Breakups are hard, and hope is always unexpected. I wish you well, though.
Thanks for your kind words, in time I will bounce back
