The Autumn Comes

The autumn comes, and glad we are
  to stretch into a season gold;
the year has come a ways so far,
from cold to hot to almost cold —
but years, I think, get kind of old:
  we need new repertoire.

The autumn waits, and teases fun —
those promises it yearly makes —
but I am just like everyone,
I’ve chased some shamans and some fakes.
  Resiliency is what it takes
to up and get things done —

The autumn comes – one day, some day –
until then, I’ll enjoy the warm
that keeps the winter chill away.
When wind and snow come down in storm
we’ll wish this weather was the norm,
and long for one good ray,

  like I’ll enjoy

  today.
