The Lies of Love

Behold, the plainly self-absorbed:
She has no one to love her.
She plans to conquer half the world;
And THEN speak to her mother

She leaves a trail of broken things
The oaths she swears she’s kept;
She sure she knows the way it felt
The day that Jesus wept

Two classes always let her down:
The living and the lifeless –
And every man she dates, it seems,
Prefers to remain wifeless

She wonders why, each guy she meets
Turns out to be a liar;
When she is sure – she’s very sure –
She’s all
They could
Desire
