Wonder Waits

A painting, smeared across the sky
And in the wet, the gleaming sand;
A single fisher up at dawn,
A maybe chance to understand

The size of it and size of us;
The reason that is not a cause —
And how it is that wonder waits
On all who once knew what

it was
